    Sorry to hear but yes I understand. It is an unbearable time but I believe we must be strong in our faith, whatever that may be right now. I'm a horn player as well and honor your decision and have nothing but the utmost respect for you. May I humbly (and publicly) recommend Art, my friend and repair person in upstate NY. He has a shop called The Brass and Woodwind shop in Burnt Hills, NY if ever needed. Incidentally, I've found great success on a Kelly plastic mouthpiece!! But I know these are personal choices. God bless you. You are not alone. God does see after his children. Be blessed. I'll play lots of Beethoven 9th Adagio in your honor 😂just being silly. Horn player love

    ROLLING UR LIPS WILL HENDER YOUR HIGH NOTES DO NOT DO THAT

    • @frenchhorntutor
      @frenchhorntutor 3 роки тому

      It depends if you are thinking of "rolling" in the literal sense of the word. My college horn teacher had a lot of all staters. She swore by this method. It's not a literal "rolling" of the lip, rather, it's a placement.

    I can’t tell if it’s you or your microphone but your sound feels a little forced and the intonation is a little inconsistent. However, I’m going to assume it’s the microphone because your sound is consistent across high and low registers and your technique is good. That said, good work

    Interesting to see at a practice tempo to illustrate how easy it can be to give in to the urge to gliss rather than slur into low notes, to wobble on low note landings, and to let half notes go flat if not committed to supporting for full value. Always a challenge to keep those wide leaps piano and fight the urge to hit those low notes like a hammer instead of keeping them in line with the phrasing.

    Why do we roll our lips I was told my my professional French horn teacher to never roll our lips because it will harm us in the future to make high note or it I’ll be harder or we just can’t hit them especially if we make a habit of it not to mention i was also told that’s what beginners do if they can’t hit high not but should never have been thought to do it and your low scales/notes make you high ones or make them easier

      The "rolling" I'm talking about probably isn't a literal rolling of the lip like a rolled tortilla...the bottom lip is more literally under the top lip or behind it.
